Subscribe To Comments 2.1 Plug-in

A great plug-in to automatically post updates to commentators but low on documentation. This blog explains the basics but forgets to describe the [manager_link] feature in the options, i.e. how dynamically to link to the subscription manager.

In the option settings it says, “Customize the messages shown to different people. Use [manager_link] to insert the URI to the Subscription Manager.”

If you want to make the URL around the term “link to subscription manager” you’ll have to write:

link to subscription manager

That’s it.

P.s. An alternative plug-in is Filosofo enroll-comments.

I wondered what that message in the options was, but I don’t even understand what it is for.

Why would I want to “Use [manager_link] to insert the URI to the Subscription Manager”

Hi Kathleen, if you clicked the subscribe button when you posted the above message, you got an email with a ‘Subscription Manager’ link, i.e. a personal webpage you can go to if you want to unsubscribe my posts. However, often you misplace, can’t find that email or forget about my site, but linking to [manager_link] will let your users, next time they visit your site, go to that subscription manager page without having to find that particular email.
You would place that link in the customized text box in order for the user to see it directly on the comment page.
In other words, it’s just a functionality of convenience. I guess especially for users who post-subscribe a lot.
    Hope this was any help.
